We’re taking a look at this recently completed whole house renovation on Sullivan’s Island. In this video walkthru of the exterior of the property we are highlighting the complete change in the look of the exterior.
New exterior paint blends more with the natural surroundings
We removed all of the dated cedar siding that ran vertically and replaced it with a more streamlined shiplap running horizontally. The house was then painted a subtle mossy gray-green color to blend more into the natural landscape updating from the standard beige many of the dated contemporaries on Sullivan’s Island were once painted. The windows were all replaced not just for increased energy efficiency from when the home was originally built in the 1980s, but also for function (provide impact protection in the event of a hurricane) and to let in more light.
At the back of the home a new elevated pool was built with a large lower patio. Modern design elements were used including a corten steel panel skirt around the pool that will oxidize over time. A wide staircase was added from the home to the pool with an electric polished, stainless steel railing.
