International Property Awards has selected Swallowtail Architecture of Charleston, SC to be honored with the Best Architecture Single Residence, South Carolina award. The project that received this year’s award is the Seabrook Marsh Escape home. This project was a complete redesign and reimagining of a 1980’s contemporary. Homes of this era tend to be pretty formulaic in their approach to ‘modern design’ and as a whole, fall short of the 21st century vision of modern architecture. Swallowtail’s focus on making sure the home reflects how families live today reoriented the floorplan so that the expansive water views could be enjoyed throughout the home. The combination of new building techniques and materials allowed for the execution of wide open spaces with greater spans and clear sight lines to the exterior. Creating a cohesive design plan and blending natural materials brings warmth and depth to modern-day contemporary design.

Being named best single family residence architect in South Carolina is an amazing recognition of our firms commitment and talent. Given this is a global-wide award, and that only 7 other firms in the country received this award, we are especially honored.
