New Ocean Front Home in Isle of Palms
Refined, Coastal Elegance
Breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the white sandy beaches are the backyard playground of this new construction home on Isle of Palms with private boardwalk to the beach. This home is the essence of what it means to live on the ocean on the coast of South Carolina in luxury and refined elegance.
With a reverse floor plan, the main living areas are upstairs to take advantage of the best views. Ascending the curved staircase, you reach a foyer with peaked ceilings and barrel-vaulted eyebrow windows clad in wood. Custom built-ins are the perfect place to store daily items, as well as puzzles and cards for the game table. Enter next into the large, open concept living area with great room, dining, and kitchen with built-in breakfast nook, which ensures you’ll see the sun rising with your morning coffee. A wall of sliding doors opens to a covered porch that overlooks the raised pool accessible from the entry level.
The cabinetry in the kitchen has a furniture quality with clean lines that evoke a modern undertone. The large center island and the two glass fronted cabinets flanking the corners of the kitchen have a light hickory natural stain. The remainder of the cabinets are painted a fresh white, as are the exposed trusses of the peaked ceiling. The two finishes blend with the natural tones of the wide planked hardwood floors, creating a seamless, and serene feeling throughout the space.
The wood tones are carried into the great room with stained wood, nickle-gap paneling inset in the coffered ceiling. To create a softglow, we inserted LED rope lighting within each coffer—a technique also used in the nautically-styled media room. This lighting creates a dramatic mood in the room in the evening hours. Large bedrooms with views of the ocean offer well-appointed ensuites. For younger guest, there is the bunkroom with custom built beds and a multi room bathroom complete with custom vanity with a trough-style sink that allows for use by more than one person.
Downstairs, pool side, the details continue in another den area with custom cabinets. A bar area with sink, ice maker, refrigerator, and dishwasher are concealed behind paneled cabinetry making the space feel sophisticated, yet practical for entertaining. The entire side wall is clad in nickel-gap siding and the cabinets are painted a soft gray with blue undertones. Another wall of glass sliding doors opens for access to the pool. Enjoy the elevated pool with vanishing edge, along with the spa or relax sitting under the covered porch. This is a truly dreamy spot to relax with a cocktail and conversation as the day becomes night and the expansive ocean views fade. The space becomes more intimate, more present. The focal point transitions from the horizon to the light from the fire as you enjoy conversation while sitting by the fire.
