Large Vacation Retreat

With Space for the Entire Family

Coastal, casual elegance perfectly describes the details of one of our latest projects on the boards on Kiawah Island just off the coast of South Carolina.  With amenities on the island, beautiful homes, meandering streets, and five championship golf courses, Kiawah has have long been a favorite family vacation destination. The exclusive, gated-community accessible only over the Kiawah Island Parkway (or by boat), captures southern charm and the hospitality indicative of low-country coastal living.

The home is located beyond the second gate on a flag lot.  Upon arrival, you’ll immediately notice how the home blends in with the luscious landscaping, noting a classic exterior of shake siding on the upper two floors and tabby stucco siding on the main floor; a standing-seam metal roof; and natural wood accents.  Our clients wished to have a home designed to fit their multi-generational family.  Our plans are for a 6-bedroom home, each with their own ensuite, with two bedrooms on the main floor, and an additional powder room.  There are several areas for gathering inside and out, a large open concept kitchen and family room, and an elevator to access the additional bedrooms and den located on the second floor.  Creating that flow from outside to inside is a key feature of the home. The dining room extends out the back of the kitchen creating 180 -degree views through the windows of the Kiawah River.  Directly adjacent the dining room is a screened in back porch for dining and entertaining, as well an elevated, temperature-controlled, salt-water pool.  Access from the main floor bedroom to the deck adjacent to the screened room, rounds out the indoor-outdoor flow and connectivity of the spaces.
