Bold blue wallpaper paired with bold fabric prints in blue, yellow, green, and white in new home on Kiawah Island designed by Swallowtail Architecture

Wallpaper is trending back in a big way!  Bold pattern and bold color cover the walls of the living room of the Classic Coastal Kiawah Home.  A palette of blues contrast against the natural limestone color of the fireplace and the white sofas and coffee table.  With light filling the room from the large sliding door and the many windows in the adjacent kitchen, the deep, rich color on the walls does not make the room feel dark or closed in.  In fact, it’s the opposite, this room feels light and airy.

The wallpaper certainly brings personality to the space and it is an evolving trend we are seeing in interior spaces.  Clients are mixing vibrant patterns, texture, and color with soft goods such as fabric.  The colors tend to trend toward the more serene hues of deep saturated blues, greens, and pinks as seen in the project.  While we are still seeing soft whites and gray tones in other projects, it’s clear that clients are willing to take bold chances to create beautiful spaces.
