Our Philosophy

So much in architecture depends on the right fit. The way the design fits the landscape. The way the building fits the use. And the way a room fits the people who live in it.

Getting the right fit takes a rare combination of consultation and vision.

At Swallowtail, we take a lot of time at the beginning of the project to really understand what is important about the site, the needs and requirements of the homeowners as well as their dreams and aspirations. We check out the facts with the zoning and FEMA regulations, and we ask our homeowners a lot of questions. It’s vital in getting the details exactly right. Because a great building is about the details and the nuance. From the way the windows face the view, to the framing around the doorways.

The name Swallowtail is inspired by the classic swallowtail joint, a precise and beautiful coming together of two pieces of wood.  It’s also a kind of perfect fit.

Exactly the kind of fit you want with your architects.
